Imagine this is all for you

  • rest unto your soul
  • reward in heaven
  • the keys of the kingdom of heaven
  • everlasting life
  • passed from death unto life
  • never hunger
  • never thirst
  • raised up at the last day

If anything is very real, it is our (maybe hidden) desire for overcoming death, gaining wisdom, breaking evil, ending the suffering, feeding the poor.

We desire a state where we have rest in our soul, have a reward in heaven, have the keys of the kingdom of heaven, have everlasting life, etc.

If we were to take out religion, we have to modify our genes so that this very desire becomes non existent. Until then, every human has some understanding of eternal, afterlife and heaven.

Because of this desire, we have reason to think that life itself is related to something heavenly and eternal. The only question seems: how are the cards of reality shuffled?

Since neither the desire (unity with the divine), nor the object of desire (the state of heaven) can be observed, we can speculate about both for a lifetime. But we have to choose. Either awareness (Alex O’Connor), resistence (Richard Dawkins) or surrender (Alistair McGrath) to ‘these concepts as being real’ are our options.

Jesus Christ stands out from all religion, because he tells that all these concepts are real, they do exist and He Himself is the key of the door.

He is the key to heaven. Who believes on Him, has everlasting life. Who comes to Him, will be given rest. Who drinks of Him, will never thirst. Who eats of Him, will never hunger. This list does’nt end. All concepts of holy, heaven, eternity declares Jesus for real.

Imagine this is all for you. As Billy Graham famously mentioned many times in his sermons: ‘Are you sure?’

Imagine that you are sure. Imagine that you have rest unto your soul, have a reward in heaven, have the keys of the kingdom of heaven, have everlasting life, have passed from death unto life, will never hunger, will never thirst and will be raised up at the last day.

Can we be sure? I know I am sure. I do not have all the answers, but I am sure. I rationaly doubt about many cards of reality, but I have the elixir of life, the fountain of youth, the philosopher’s stone, the holy grail. In Christ. By faith.

All I can do is point the way. Trust your desire for the divine, it is real. Don’t disqualify your desire for heaven as the result of some biochemical reactions. It would not be there without these reactions, but neither would our reason.

Are you sure?
